Visitors From Home

Day 126: Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Port to Port: Fort Myers Beach

Underway: 0:00 am      Motor Off: 0:00 pm      Miles Traveled: 0      Stayed At: Marina

Mile to Mile: We had special visitors from home today – our neighbor Cliff and his daughter Emily (and Fitz – Emily’s cute fuzzball of a dog) stopped by to visit on their way from Fort Lauderdale back to Tampa (and then back to Minnesota). We have been able to connect up several times on this trip and it is a special treat every time. We chatted for a while on the boat, went for a walk by the beach and then went to lunch at Nervous Nellies. A little hot in the mid-day sun sitting outside by the water but it just doesn’t seem right to sit inside on such a nice day. A short but wonderful visit. And, again, they hauled away more junk we decided we didn’t need – this time about 150 pounds worth – back to Minnesota. It’s amazing how much excess junk you can have even on a boat as small as ours. We can almost see our waterline now.

We finished the day with a leisurely walk along the beach – it’s the beginning of the busy season but the beach is surprisingly quiet during the week. Tomorrow Cindy leaves for “vacation” with a quick stop in Minnesota and a week plus lounging in Mesa, Arizona with her Mom. I’ll be here all alone – what will I do with all my free time?
